Advocacy

Global Health Initiative

The Global Health Initiative is a multi-layered, multi-faceted effort to engage the people of The United Methodist Church in the effort to combat diseases of poverty and significantly reduce the incidence of malaria and HIV-AIDS, while also addressing the destructive effects of poverty. Through partnerships with agencies, annual conferences, local churches and other organizations, the initiative seeks to increase and provide such things as:

  • health ministry,
  • vaccines, nets and other preventative measures,
  • communication about health, and
  • advocacy for changes in public policy.

Central Conference Communications

The Central Conference Communications Team moves across the globe, supporting and training communicators in The United Methodist Church in Africa, the Philippines and Europe; working to build, enhance, and sustain a communications infrastructure in the Central Conferences for sharing life-saving information, stories, and words of encouragement, healing and hope.

Information and Communications Technology for Development (ICT4D)

ICT4D (Information & Communications Technology for Development) is being used to transform communications across The United Methodist Church, and within communities in the developing world who’ve been most cut off from technological advances. United Methodist Communications provides technology, training and best practices to help programs become successful and sustainable.
