Mission Celebrations

Connecting Congregations and Districts “From Everywhere to Everywhere”

Imagine a mission event at your church which is tailored to your context and opens the world of mission whether your focus is local, national, or international.

The United Methodist Church is a global denomination, and we have a vast array of resources available to congregations and districts for mission events. A Mission Celebration is an event planned by local church leaders and resourced by General Board of Global Ministries staff and missionaries, which provides a variety of activities and learning opportunities to meet local church members where they are and challenge them to reflect, learn, and engage in missions locally and around the world. Global Ministries can assist in creating a strategic event which will launch your congregation or district into a dynamic year of mission engagement.

Here are some resources which will assist your team in planning a Mission Celebration. You also have conference and jurisdictional mission leaders available to you as part of the Global Ministries network as you connect to best resources and both national and international missionaries.

Consult the guide for planning and ideas.

The Mission Celebration team of Global Ministries is pleased to serve as your “one stop shop” related to your event. We will assist you in tailoring Global Ministries resources personnel and material to your event and work efficiently on your behalf.

In general, we find it best to start at least 6-9 months prior to your event. This helps your committee to work your Mission Celebration in a way that is truly strategic, so that it becomes more than just a one-time event and can be woven into the life of the congregation and district throughout the year. Review the Global Ministries website and Mission Celebration pages as you prepare for your event.
