This 6-session book study is based on “Outside The Lines: How Embracing Queerness Will Transform Your Faith” By Rev. Mihee Kim-Kort.
In Outside the Lines, Mihee Kim-Kort tells her own story, while unpacking the notions of both queerness and the imago Dei. In her depiction, she uses the idea that queerness is far and wide in how we understand and love God, ourselves and each other. Most of us have an idea in our minds of what queerness is, and she flips all those notions on their head through the lenses of intersectionality, the Gospel, and how we exist in community with one another.
As you begin this book study, one assumes that you already have some level of open-mindedness because you chose a book called, Outside the Lines. However, whether you are straight, gay, bi, anywhere in-between or none of those at all, prepare yourself mentally and spiritually to go into this book having your assumptions and biases challenged. What you will experience is both the author's journey and an invitation to a new mindset in your theological framework.
Each session is made up of:
- Opening Prayer
- Centering Text
- Self-Reflection Question
- Chapter Summary
Note: The book is not included with this book study. You will need to purchase the book separately.
