The Strength for Service to God and Country devotional was originally published to provide spiritual encouragement to members of the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II and the Korean War.
Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, the General Commission on United Methodist Men (GCUMM) renewed this mission, raising awareness and financial support to provide a copy of Strength for Service to every man and woman serving in the U.S. Armed Forces around the world.
Today, that mission continues to grow. As stewards of this important ministry, GCUMM supports three editions of Strength for Service, each designed to offer spiritual encouragement to those who serve:
• Strength for Service to God and Country — for military personnel and veterans.
• Strength for Service to God and Community — for first responders and medical personnel.
• Strength for Service to God and Community: Scout Edition — for Scouts and those involved in Scouting.
