Faith and AI Discernment Webinar Series

Faith and AI Discernment Webinar Series
Faith and AI Discernment Webinar Series

Clergy and local church leaders—come hear Rev. Dr. Liberato Bautista, Assistant General Secretary for United Nations and International Affairs at GBCS, discuss the ethical, theological, and practical questions surrounding the use of AI in ministry.

A conversation-centered online series created to help church leaders explore the ethical, theological, and practical questions emerging around artificial intelligence in ministry. Each session features expert insight, thoughtful reflection, and structured follow-up discussion.

Hosted collaboratively by Discipleship Ministries, United Methodist Communications, and the General Board of Church and Society, the Faith and AI Discernment Webinar Series invites clergy and church leaders into meaningful conversation around the dilemmas and possibilities raised by AI. Each session focuses on a distinct topic or ethical scenario, includes a guest speaker, and continues with a guided follow-up Zoom discussion designed to surface concerns, hopes, and questions across the denomination.

About the Series

This webinar series is intentionally exploratory. Rather than offering fixed answers, it creates a space for the church to listen, reflect, and discern together.

Series Goals

  • Create space for thoughtful conversation within the church about the ethical, theological, and practical implications of AI.
  • Equip clergy, ministry leaders, and denominational leaders to engage AI-related questions in their ministry settings.
  • Surface concerns, hopes, and emerging questions across the denomination as part of broader discernment toward General Conference 2028.
  • Generate documentation, resources, FAQs, and reports that can support ongoing churchwide reflection and policy conversation.
