GCORR Awards Grants to Support Bold Ministries in Immigration Justice Through the 2025 U.S. CORR Action Fund

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 7, 2025

Washington, D.C. — The General Commission on Religion and Race (GCORR) of The United Methodist Church is proud to announce the awarding of grants through the 2025 U.S. CORR Action Fund to support courageous ministries addressing the complex realities of immigration in the United States.

This year’s funded initiatives represent the faithful work of United Methodist congregations, ministries, and institutions that are meeting the urgent needs of immigrant communities through direct support, community education, leadership development, mental health care, legal advocacy, and intentional relationship-building. These projects embody the Church’s commitment to justice, welcome, and solidarity with our immigrant siblings.

“These investments are part of our broader commitment to equipping the Church for faithful, equity-centered ministry,” said the Rev. Dr. Giovanni Arroyo, General Secretary of GCORR. “We are responding to the urgency of this moment by resourcing ministries that reflect the Gospel call to justice, dignity, and inclusion.”

Due to the current sociopolitical climate and the potential risks faced by individuals and organizations engaging in immigration justice work, GCORR has made the intentional decision not to publish the names or locations of grant recipients. This measure ensures the safety, dignity, and confidentiality of those leading and participating in this vital ministry.

“We are proud to support these remarkable efforts that reflect both courage and compassion,” said the Rev. Alka Lyall, Chair of the CORR Action Fund Committee. “These projects are living examples of what it looks like to embody Christ’s love through action—creating safe, welcoming spaces and offering tangible support to those navigating the complexities of immigration in our time.”

The CORR Action Fund is designed to equip United Methodist entities for transformative ministry that dismantles racism and fosters equity. This cycle focused specifically on immigration-related initiatives that integrate education, advocacy, and direct engagement with immigrant communities, while drawing on GCORR’s theological and justice-based resources.
