“2025 brought a season of exciting change to United Methodist
Communications as we moved forward with a
new strategic plan and structure to support the worldwide United Methodist
Church. We led communications for the launch of the new UMC vision and the United in Impact
giving campaign; our partnership strategy continued to gain momentum; and we continued to
hone our content and technologies to meet the Church’s needs. We’re proud of what we’ve
accomplished and are eager to continue creating and sharing stories and messaging that
highlight God’s mission and ministry through The UMC.”

United Methodist Communications (UMCom) partnered with the Council of Bishops and the Connectional Table to launch the new vision for The United Methodist Church. Through strategic communications, UMCom helped build excitement and drive awareness, engagement, and adoption of the vision, which complimented the Church’s longstanding mission.
UMCom led the visual presentation of the new vision statement, designing the logo, introductory reference guide, social media graphics, banners, apparel, and other supporting materials. The agency also created an interactive booth experience and produced informational videos to help members and leaders understand and embrace the vision.
To support consistency across the connection, UMCom developed a comprehensive creative guide with downloadable graphics, font and color standards, helpful links, and messaging guidance.
To support awareness and adoption at launch, UMCom developed a suite of resources for church leaders, denominational agencies and entities, communicators, and local pastors. A dedicated hub at ResourceUMC.org/vision served as the central location for materials introducing and explaining the vision across the connection, and promoted through the companion Facebook page and The Source newsletter.
Resources included an introductory video, a local church reference guide, leader talking points, an Introducing the New UMC Vision to Your Congregation video and print resource, and a print piece titled Bringing The UMC Vision to Your Congregation.
These tools equipped leaders to share the vision clearly and encourage engagement in ministry shaped by the Church’s guiding direction.
UMCom supported the launch through coordinated digital and social promotion, and denominational partnerships.
During the May–August launch period, organic promotion of ResourceUMC.org/vision generated 423,000 impressions and 73,000 link clicks. A global paid social media campaign across the United States and regional conferences produced more than 340,000 impressions and 36,000 link clicks, while search engine marketing added more than 22,000 web impressions.
The message was amplified through denominational communication channels, including coverage from UM News and a press release announcing the launch. The vision was also shared with communicators, agency teams, and denominational leaders through meetings and briefings, with leaders encouraged to highlight the vision at annual and regional conference sessions.
In-person engagement helped bring the vision to life. Through a visible presence at key gatherings, participants experienced the vision firsthand and were equipped to share it within their ministry networks.
In 2025, UMCom promoted the vision at major denominational events including MARCHA, the Men’s National Gathering, the Scouting National Gathering, Leadership Institute 2025, General Commission on Religion and Race’s Facing the Future Leadership Institute, and the United Methodist Association of Communicators (UMAC). Planning also began for expanded event engagement in 2026.
Beginning in September, communications expanded from leader outreach to broader churchwide education and interpretation. Messaging emphasized discipleship and lived practice while continuing to explain the theological grounding and practical meaning of the vision through articles, teaching resources, and storytelling across platforms.
Collaboration with agencies and communicators increased, highlighting how ministries across the denomination were living into the vision and reinforcing it as a shared churchwide direction. Communications also shifted toward implementation support, helping churches and individuals apply the vision in real ministry contexts.
The member-focused UMC.org/vision page launched and received more than 69,000 views. A three-week social media introduction series was followed by a five-week storytelling series encouraging digital discipleship using #LoveServeLeadUMC and #BeUMC. Geotargeted social ads in the United States, Africa, and the Philippines generated 69,700 engagements and reached more than 2.9 million people.
Additional resources—including ready-to-use templates with scripture and prompts—were created for local churches. User-generated visuals and member stories also strengthened authenticity and engagement as the campaign moved into its next phase.
Through coordinated communications, resources, and engagement opportunities, UMCom helped introduce and create excitement for the new vision across The United Methodist Church. These efforts established shared understanding and momentum, helping clergy, laity, partners, and members see a clear picture of the Church’s future and their role in living out that vision.
For more than 80 years, United Methodist Communications has told inspirational stories of God's work in the world through The United Methodist Church, helped reach new people, supported local churches in vibrant communications ministry, equipped leaders and delivered messages of hope and healing.
