United in Impact website inspires and equips UMC stewardship

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The website for the new United in Impact giving initiative, in support of The United Methodist Church (UMC), has launched and is now available to local churches for their awareness efforts at ResourceUMC.org/UnitedInImpact.

The United in Impact giving initiative that illustrates the power of giving through the connectional Church is a collaborative effort shepherded by United Methodist Communications (UMCom), General Council on Finance & Administration (GCFA) and Discipleship Ministries. United in Impact builds on the success of the previous "Did You Know?" initiative's resources to broaden awareness of how giving empowers disaster response, education, mission work and more through our connectional structure.

The campaign's website, managed by United Methodist Communications, features a variety of resources to help churches promote and deepen members' understanding of connectional giving — the unique financial structure of The United Methodist Church that distributes weekly offerings across local, national and global ministries. It features a comprehensive online toolkit to support congregations as they engage in conversations about giving and its vital role in the United Methodist mission and as carried out through its vision. Resources, including those developed by Discipleship Ministries, include:

  • Prewritten talking points and prompts to encourage meaningful discussion and engagement
  • A visual infographic illustrating why members at all levels give, fund distribution channels and the impact created
  • A series of short videos optimized for worship services, social media and digital platforms
  • Shareable, inspirational stories from around the world highlighting generosity in action and an opportunity for members to share their experiences of how unified generosity changes lives and strengthens communities

At every level of The United Methodist Church (UMC), its connectional structure ensures that each level is interconnected, fostering shared resources, mutual accountability and a collective focus on mission and ministry. The United in Impact website's resources offer transparency and clarity on the process, as well as an understanding of the importance of participation to make a measurable impact.

"Generosity is an act of worship and a reflection of our trust in God. This campaign reminds United Methodists that through every act of generosity, we live out our calling to be the hands and feet of Christ," said Linda Bruner, lead of connectional giving at UMCom. "By giving, we sustain the ministry of our local churches. As local churches grow, the community benefits, and the impact extends beyond church walls. Outreach connects more people, transforming lives and making disciples of Jesus Christ, both locally and globally."
